Valentine’s Day 2014

I wore a black blazer to match my necklace when really I should have worn a blue one to match Handsome. Oops.

Random fact: Lucas first kissed me on January twenty something in 2007. This means that it has been over 7 years since our first kiss. Crazy how much has happened in between then and now.

Valentine’s Day this year was crazy with school projects and midterms then a fancy Ball and a movie with friends. Our day started at 6 am and ended around 1 am. But it was great.

Lucas and his friend Taylor are in a class where they have to use Kickstarter to raise money to fund a product they created. Right now they are in the video making stage and had a very small window to use the equipment they checked out from the campus media lab, so we were up late Thursday night filming, then we woke up close to 6, went to the same building to shoot more just before 7 and filmed until just after 9 so we could upload all our media and return the equipment before 10. It was a little rough. But we got the footage they need and the video is going to be excellent! They should be finished editing it soon.

Lucas and I both had a midterm to take Friday afternoon, so naturally he went to the library to study after filming, I went home and took a nap, and we met up in a few hours to walk into the testing center together. I should have studied but I’ve been pretty sick the last few days and seriously needed a nap. Totally worth it. After we left the testing center we went home, got dressed up and headed to the Provo City Library for the Valentine’s Day Ball.

I love fancy events. This ball was the perfect way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. All we did was buy two tickets and everything else was taken care of. When we walked in the door a gentleman handed me a rose and we were escorted to a table where there was a delicious sit down dinner (done by Marvellous Catering – in my opinion the best catering in Provo and owners of the restaurant Molly’s) and a live jazz band after for dancing.

Lucas asked the gentleman handing out roses if he got one too and was told, “no sir, these are for the ladies.” So he held mine for me and sniffed it at the dinner table for an uncomfortably long time.

We originally thought that we would be one of the few young couples at the Ball but it turned out to be mostly young and middle aged couples. Also we don’t know how to dance very well but no one else there did so we fit in perfectly : ) We jokingly dance around our apartment often but there is something wonderful about slow dancing in the arms of the person you love to live classic jazz.

There is a small art exhibit in another room of the Library that we walked through on our way out. Very small, very expensive art. We thought it deserved a good solid staring.

We went home, changed into jeans, stuffed three Martinelli bottles and an opener into my purse, and met a few friends at the movie theaters to watch a chick flick. Before then, I had snuck Subway sandwiches and even large Jamba Juices into the theater but never tried this. It was fun. Who knew Martinellis and plastic cups could make a movie so much more enjoyable?!
