Rivers

Upper, South Fork American River

Posted on

A quick trip home to Northern California wouldn’t be complete without a trip down the river. Or two.

Someone said, “The wildflowers on the upper are better than they’ve been in 10 years!” So we had to see if they were right. Not only were the hillsides covered in poppies magical, but the day on the river was perfect. It’s not too often the weather is such that you don’t either freeze or melt on the river.

In order to maintain proper social distancing (Covid-19 style), Kyle and Jo used their own boat. I obviously lobbied for the boat with the oar frame.

It’s funny to me that it isn’t enough for Lucas to be on the river. He always wants to be IN the river. Happy he found his happy place.

I had to include this photo to show off my absolute favorite piece of rafting gear. Kokatat dry pants. We bought them from someone off craiglist who had only worn them once. Best. Purchase. Ever.
