Seaside Weekend

Posted on

When we get together with friends, we often put the kids to bed at whose-ever house we’re at so we can have game nights past kid bedtime (7 PM). One day we thought, “why don’t we rent a house for a weekend so we can do this in a fun location!” Then we did just that. It was a little challenging to find a house to fit 8 adults and 6 kids near the beach for a decent price, but we did it!

Seaside is one of many cute coastal towns in Oregon. We found a house to rent right next to the beach and did all the classic Seaside things you can do in the winter.

Indian Beach

We drove over to the coast a little early so we could do the Clatsop Loop Trail hike on Indian Beach. We didn’t get there early enough to hike the full loop (it was getting dark) so we just did the part with the best views. I’m so happy Tennyson loves being in his hiking backpack and loves being outside.

Seaside

The fence at the end of this road is where the street turns into sand. The house we stayed in is the brown one on the left. It is a 5-10 minute walk to get from the house to a usable, open patch of sand because the rest is covered in brush. But even so, it is a great place to stay!

Crabbing

I don’t care for eating crab but I think the process of catching them is fun! We joined the locals in tying off crabbing rings to the bridge and caught one crab : )

Downtown Seaside

We walked around downtown, by the aquarium (you can see seals without going inside!), and the beach playground.

Anderson wanted to catch that seagull so bad!

During the summer, downtown seaside is a bumpin’ place. A lot of things were closed in November while we were there, but luckily the mini mall merry-go-round was running even though all the stores were closed.

S’mores on the beach

Can’t wait for our next weekend trip with friends!
