Portland

Posted on

Friday afternoon we left Provo, stopped in Boise where we stayed with my wonderful aunt Rachel and drove Saturday morning to our final destination – Portland. Unfortunately we arrived in the city after dark so we missed the beautiful scenery. Don’t worry, we made up for it by driving all over the city for the following 3 days. Our goal while visiting Portland was two-fold: spend time with Dillon and Alyssa (Lucas’ older brother and his brother’s girlfriend) and get to know the area/potential neighborhoods we’d like to live in. I’d say we accomplished our goals quite nicely. Now we just need to find an apartment that will be available in May/June and located near Lucas’ work and my new job. Perhaps that means I need to find a new job first… Any leads would be helpful and greatly appreciated : )

Isn’t this house charming?! The area we stayed in is filled with houses just like this. I can’t get enough of them.

Pittock Mansion www.charlesevelyn.wordpress.com

The Pittock Mansion has a pretty great view. Okay fine. This is literally the best view in the whole city.We were blessed with blue skies during our visit. You can see Mt. Hood and everything!

Self timer apps are the worst. Exhibit A. Any suggestions for a better one?

Also, check out Lucas’ dance at the mansion here. You wont be disappointed. Promise.

Portland, LDS Temple www.charlesevelyn.wordpress.com

On Sunday we knew the temple would be closed but wanted to just drive by and see it. Such a majestic building hidden in this forest.

For lunch one day we let Yelp tell us where a close, yummy cafe was. This place said something about pie so I chose it. Turned out to be a great life choice. Don’t let this lame photo fool you. This pie was over $4 a slice and worth every penny. Their soup and sandwiches were excellent too. If you want to try some stop by Lauretta Jean’s Pie and Bakery.

After 3 days in Portland I now have a beanie. I guess there’s a first for everything. I’m not even sure how to wear it yet. Is this a good sign? Haha what will happen to me after we’ve lived in the city for a few years?? Only time will tell.
