Bring it on April

Posted on

March has been a little stressful (and by little I mean a lot) because I’ve been trying to prepare for everything that is happening in April… namely, the Provo Fashion Week (an event my friend Janay and I are putting together – only 3 days away!), final exams, final projects, graduation, moving out/packing, deep cleaning the apartment, trying to find an apartment in Portland, applying and interviewing for jobs in Portland, etc.

I think I’ve hit my threshold for stress because starting yesterday, I’ve moved on. Instead of feeling stress, I am just happy. There are so many wonderful things happening this month that I am BEYOND EXCITED about! Last night I couldn’t sleep because I was thinking about all the major milestones that are coming up in the next three weeks and how exciting life is. This sounds cheesy, I’m sure, but I’m co-founding the first ever Provo Fashion Week, graduating from college, moving from Provo after living here for 5 years, and could potentially secure my first after-college job before April is over.

Also, Lucas has been gone since Thursday morning for a research conference in Chicago so I have had what feels like a 72-hour long date with my sewing machine. The productivity on dresses for the fashion show, and getting 750 event programs printed has helped me feel more prepared for the first major event this month. Can’t wait for Lucas to get home tonight! Living alone in a basement apartment is creepy and anything but fun.

Fun fact about the show: Want to know my favorite part so far? This beautiful 8 ft x 8 ft photo-op backdrop with our logo and hashtag all over it. Just look at it! Our custom hand stamps are pretty cool too : )

Since Janay and I both drive Corollas, we had to be creative in order to get the backdrop to the venue. Thankfully I keep a few yoga mats in my car, which served as great grippy covers for the massive cardboard tube we had to rope to the roof of the car. Janay rode with her arm out the window to make sure the tube stayed in place. She said it was a workout. Good thing the trip was only a few miles long.

Haha I am grateful for funny experiences like this when we have to do something semi-hillbilly to solve a problem. Makes for great pictures and even better stories.

Lucas and I are excited for all of April’s adventures and have started planning for May’s to-do list as well. When we leave Utah we are going to drive south and stop at a few of the beautiful national parks and a week later we are going to spend a while exploring the east coast. Two trips we’ve always wanted to take but haven’t had the time for!

I still have one more dress to make before tomorrow so I have to get back to my sewing machine. In just a few days I’ll post photos of the actual fashion show!!
