Tennyson’s 2nd Birthday

Posted on

Tennyson’s actual birthday is July 2 (his golden birthday this year!!) but my due date with baby #2 is July 9th so I decided to host a party 2 weeks early. I’m so glad I did because I’m slowing down big time. I don’t think I would have had the energy to do a party any closer to my due date.

Tennyson loves lots of things right now so we had multiple options for themes – trains, school buses, books, animals, garbage trucks, and dinosaurs. I already had a handful of dinosaur party supplies from a deserted side hustle (RIP Tivi Parties ha) so that’s what we went with!

Between his excitement for the cake, balloons, and his friends, it was hard to get this little guy to sit for a picture. It might be a little blurry but I’m glad we got at least one of all 3 of us looking in the correct direction.

Last year I made the mistake of trying to make a “healthy cake” with “healthy frosting” and it was basically a disaster. I’m not a baker. And I’m definitely not a cake decorating artist. So this year I opted to paid a professional. 10/10 would recommend. Turns out Tennyson wanted to lick the frosting a little bit then lost interest (probably because it is so dang sweet and he isn’t used to desserts like this).

Dinosaur Egg Hunt! Eggs hidden (most just laid on the grass) by the adults and the older kids and found/collected by the younger kids. It was a fast but fun activity. Each kids had a bag with their name on it 🙂

We bought this house because we loved the yard. It was so nice to have friends over and finally use the backyard the way it was made to be used! It was also nice that all of our friends (adults) got the covid vaccine so we could feel safe getting together : )

Tennyson’s best friend is Stephen but I think his favorite person at the party was KK (Kelsey) : ) See below for a huge smile.

BEFORE the party.

AFTER the party. These balloons lasted for weeks. We used them 3 weeks later in Tenny’s crib to celebrate his actual birthday. His favorite was the mylar dinosaur on a stick. He toted it around the yard for days.

Just socks. The only way to properly afterparty.
