πŸ‘ PEACHES

  • Tennyson started ninja gym classes and loves it! It has helped build confidence and coordination. It’s fun to watch him improve on certain skills as he practices. And he’s really proud of himself πŸ™‚
  • March flew by because we spent a week of it in Thailand and 3 weeks later we flew with the kids to California to have an early Easter party with family.
  • Murphy can count to 10 in Spanish! We didn’t know she could do this and we randomly heard her say it all the way through. She doesn’t understand counting yet but she has memorized the numbers in order.
  • Both kids love Frozen II and ask to listen to the soundtrack often. Murphy will yell “Google! Unknown!” because she wants to sing along to the “Into the Unknown” song. She can’t quite sing along yet but she yells “unknown!” as loud as she can every time they say the word in the chorus.
  • Tennyson can write his name. He loves to make art for people. This includes stickers, scribbles, and an adult transcribing his desired message.
  • The kids got to do an easter egg hunt at the Jones house on Saturday and at Kyle and Maggie’s house on Sunday, then again at school during the week.
  • Murphy can feed herself with a spoon better and better every day. Both her and Tenny LOVE tomato soup.
  • The kids love playing with their cousins.
  • Tenny went to the dentist and his hygienist spoke Spanish so they did the whole cleaning communication in Spanish so Tenny learned some new words. Tenny was both nervous and excited to speak Spanish outside of school.
  • The kids were excited to wear their elephant pants and new backpacks to school (we bought in Thailand).
  • The longer Murphy’s hair gets, the more fun hairstyles she comes home with. Her teachers do her hair every day.
  • Tenny and Lucas got one more ski day in.
  • Although the winter has been sad in our garden the bulbs are finally starting to grow! I planted all kinds of random blub flowers. Can’t wait to see what comes up!
  • We had a “parent teacher conference” for the kids and learned the following things. Nothing we didn’t already know around things to improve. But it was fun to hear about what they love and excel at.
  • Tennyson: [STRENGTHS] Loving, kind, attentive child. He loves helping his friends and teachers. Very independent. Asks for help when he needs it. He is very excited to learn and loves activities. He is very interested in Spanish and very good at it. He translates for the teachers – for the kids and the parents. Teachers encouraged us to find a school where he can keep learning Spanish in Kindergarten so he doesn’t lose it. [ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT] He is really sensitive to getting hurt. Needs a hug and then can usually go back to playing quickly. He needs to work on how to hold a pencil the correct way and practice other fine motor skills.
  • Murphy: [STRENGTHS] She is loving. Can say some colors like rojo. She loves circle time. She is independent. She loves table activities. [ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT] Her crying/not breathing spells are frightening. She doesn’t know how to share. Needs some work on emotional regulation.

❌ PITS

  • The day after we arrive in CA Murphy got a high fever. She was miserable. Her temp would peak once or twice a day and she slept 4 hour long naps, but she didn’t have any other symptoms. Once we got home to OR it continues a few days so we took her to the doctor and it turned out she had a bladder infection. The long naps, and her holding so still on the plane ride was nice but it was hard to see her so miserable. Especially when we were doing fun stuff like easter egg hunts.
  • It is near impossible to get a picture of both kids looking at the camera and smiling. They move so much one of them is always looking away. I included a screenshot of my camera roll to show how I tool over 40 pictures of them in the Tillamook airplane at the airport and none of them turned out.
