Last Thursday on Alberta

Posted on

Someone recently told me about this event in Portland called Last Thursday on Alberta and said it’s a must-see. So last night Lucas and I went with some friends to check it out.

On the last Thursday of each month from May until September, 15 blocks on Alberta Street are blocked off for local art vendors, food trucks, entertainers and thousands of spectators. Anywhere from 16,000 to 20,000 people show up each month to this art festival.

A lot of entertainers had a jar for tips next to them, but there were a few people (like this lady above) who were just doing their thing as if they were the only person on the street. PS it looks kind of like blood, but it’s actually paint.IMG_3192_1

This guy is so impressive. In this picture he is spinning hoola hoops on his feet! Not to mention his bare arms are directly on the pavement. That can’t be comfortable.IMG_3211_1

Meet Caden and Erin. I love these people. They are happy, fun to be around and adorably in love. So happy they work for the same company as Lucas so we could end up living in the same city : )

This Mexican corn is amazing. If you get the chance to try some. Do.IMG_3220_1

A seemingly never ending people-filled street.

We watched this girl, the “Fastest Cup Stacker in Oregon” for a while. She’s really fast. It reminded Lucas and I of elementary school when we did cup stacking in PE.IMG_3238_1

Other than some interesting smells that we wish we didn’t encounter, we loved this event and enjoyed getting to know the NE Portland culture.
