Country Wedding

It’s always nice to see family, but this trip home was to attend Lucas’ childhood best friend’s wedding. Shane and Lucas met in kindergarden at Sutter’s Mill Elementary School and have been friends since day 1. They are opposites in so many ways but have a great friendship.

Shane has an amazing voice. He’s one of those people that has never been formally vocally trained yet has the perfect tone. His is a voice that I could listen to all day, every day. In high school, he left me a voicemail of him singing Happy Birthday. I kept it for 4 years and only lost it when I switched phones. That was a sad day. Back to Shane! He sang “All of Me” by John Legend as his vows to Kelsey. It made me cry because it was so wonderful, tender and amazing at the same time. I like Shane’s rendition of the song better than John Legend’s.

They are now officially Shane & Kelsey Harmon!

Right after a beautiful ceremony, the guests migrated over to the reception area for cocktail hour before dinner. About 20 minutes into cocktail hour it started to rain. Usually, September is a safe month to assume clear skies in Northern California but on September 28th this year it poured. Hard. For about 15 minutes we battled an intense rainstorm. And by battled, I mean we all grabbed the ponchos the brides family provided and hid under the few tents there were on the property. Lucas wanted to wear his hat all day so after his hair got ruined by the rain he had the perfect excuse to do so. I’m just happy I had two jackets in the car because it took both to keep me warm from then on. Although it seems like an unfortunate situation I thought the rain made this event an unforgettable one.

I had to grab a picture of this so I’d remember how funny Kevin’s toast was! Plus the sunset was nice. After dinner it was fun to catch up with several people we went to elementary, middle and/or high school with. Basically, it was a mini junior high school reunion : )

We are so happy we could share such a wonderful day with Shane and Kelsey! Thanks for letting us be a part of your special day!
