Annual Dahlia Field Visit

Posted on

For the last several years, we have visited the Swan Island Dahlia Farm every August. I look forward to it all year! They have a small festival at the end of August, but we usually go before then so we can see the field of flowers with little to no crowd. The farm is open so anyone can drive up and walk around it whenever for free. When the shop is open you can buy fresh cut flowers or bulbs to plant yourself.

This is the first, of hopefully many, family tradition we shared with Tennyson! I’m going to guess, by the fact that he had his first public blowout (hence the outfit change) shortly after we arrived, that he loved it 🙂

This is what my heaven looks like.

Photos taken by me on a DSLR (Canon Rebel), with a tripod, and this DSLR remote. Note: I first bought the Amazon Basics DSLR remote and I didn’t like it. The range is only 6-8 ft so your photo options are severely limited. This $39 remote I got has a 300ft range! I’ve used it over a hundred times and it has always worked great. Plus it is small and easy to hide in my hand when I’m in the photo 🙂
