The best thing about our hometown (other than the fact that our families live there) is that we are so close to Folsom Lake and the American River. You can see Lucas’ parent’s house from the river! One of my childhood best friend’s families owned a whitewater outfitter where Lucas learned to raft and guided for years. In a lot of ways, this river is home. I’m partial to lakes… but the river runs right into Folsom Lake so they’re basically the same place : )

It was nice to spend a day on the water with Lucas’ parents. It was just hot enough to make the ice cold water bearable (when splashed in a rapid – I’m not a cold water river swimmer) but not hot enough to make us miserable. All in all, it was an incredible day.
To top it all off, we went to Sky Sushi (arguably the best sushi restaurant in the United States) for dinner!
